the only feeling left is a terrible, visceral itch.
Though reason stacks up well against the urge to scratch,
there are still excuses, there is still the risk.
Just the thought of unrelenting nothingness
quiet, peace,
it pulls me close at bus stops, appears to me in dreams,
arms wide and welcoming.
So I cloak my little taboo friend in whatever works for the moment,
